There's other conference call companies offering similar free trials, so I'd suggest trying out a few of them and compare their services.

Ideas to Save Money on Auto Insurance

Not quite "free," but here's a few ideas on how to save money on auto insurance:

A $250 insurance deductible is fine until you discover that the cost for having a deductible can send your rates skyward. Instead, think about a deductible as high as $1000 to save on auto insurance premiums. Pay for minor accidents out of your pocket – you will come out ahead of the game.

If your car is worth less than $3000, think about dropping collision coverage. Yes, you will receive no compensation from your insurer if your car is wrecked, but the savings you gain by discontinuing your insurance's collision coverage can be set aside by you as a down payment for your next car.

Make sure your policy is correct. Are you listed at the right address? Even a one digit variation in your zip code can raise your insurance rates immensely. Make certain that everything about you is listed correctly on your insurance policy. Notify your insurance agent if there are mistakes.

If your car came equipped with certain security features, make sure that your insurer knows about them.

2% Cash Back on All Credit Card Purchases

HSBC is offering a credit card that is offering 2% cash back — on all purchases! There is no annual cap on purchases, and there is no minimum to receive your cash back. The website offers very few restrictions: "You will earn 2% back on new net retail purchases charged to this credit card. Rewards will be applied to your account quarterly as a credit. To earn rewards or receive a credit, your account must be current and within the credit limit."

Save for Your Child's College Education for Free

Save money for your child's college education by doing, well, pretty much nothing? Amazingly, yes &mdash the websites Upromise and BabyMint will give you free money to put in your child's college savings plans ("529s") simply by registering with them and purchasing participating products. According to to Upromise (via MSN), "A family with an annual income of $70,000 and a 5-year-old daughter could save $7,150 by investing their Upromise rewards over 15 years." Based on my experience with Upromise, that seems a excessive (and their assumptions include purchasing a house through their lender), but certainly there's some money to be made through signing up with these two companies.

Free Credit Reports

This was all over the news in 2005, but many of you may have forgotten by now — I did until just a few days ago — that all Americans can receive a free "credit file disclosure" (a credit report) once every 12 months from each of the nationwide consumer credit reporting companies: Equifax, Experian and TransUnion. There are many, many sites claiming to offer these reports, but the only one that doesn't have any restrictions (such as buying a credit monitoring plan) and is sponsored by Equifax, Experian and TransUnion is AnnualCreditReport.com. It's important to check up on your credit report regularly, so if you haven't checked up on it in the past year, this would be a great time to do it.

A little funny oddball story between free stuff: "When [an] 8-year-old math whiz at Charlotte Christian visited the 'Jelly Belly Presents Candy Unwrapped' display, he accepted the challenge: Use equations to calculate how many jelly beans were in a pyramid and other containers. His mother, Donna, didn't want to wait while he tried all the formulas. So she copied the numbers he needed, and he took the problems home....

"But that day in the family's south Charlotte home, his mom still wasn't sure what to think when Parker told her there was an error in the pyramid formula....Parker's father, Jim, called [the museum].

"After the museum figured out who should handle the call, Dean Briere, a shocked vice president, decided to investigate."
